Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry specialised in preventing and treating improper positioning of teeth (malocclusion), favourites alignment and guarantees a correct growth and development of dental arches, palate and jaw. Only early evaluation, preferably already at 4 years of age, allow to intervene promptly and effectively.
Studio Deponte uses fixed appliances, lingual braces, removable braces and clear removable aligners, on children and adults.
A fundamental part of orthodontics is interceptive orthodontics: it consists in detecting and solving malocclusions in the youngest patients, sparing them the application of fixed braces in their preadolescence and adolescence.
Fixed Appliances (Braces)
It is the most common and effective method of teeth alignment, still widely used, with the best results in more difficult cases.
Metal of ceramic brackets are applied onto the teeth surface, and then kept in position by a thin metal wire.
The ideal solution to adjust and favourite the proper growth of teeth and maxillary arch in younger patients. Unlike fixed braces, removable braces can be taken out of the mouth for cleaning, daily oral hygiene and before eating.
Same as traditional braces, with an important difference: brackets are applied on the inner side of the teeth, looking nearly invisible. The smile aesthetics will look the same, excepting for improvements brought by the treatment. This option is not always practicable: on some occasions, such as severe malocclusions, the use of traditional fixed appliance could be more indicated.
Clear Removable Aligners
More common in adult patients who wish to approach orthodontics, but would not feel confortable in using traditional braces, which would imply some temporary, but still aesthetics repercussions.
The alignment is made possible by the application of thin resin aligners, made from virtual models, which look almost completely invisible when applied. The patients can remove the aligners for eating, drinking and daily oral hygiene and this option make this solution particularly comfortable and clean.
However, it must be noted that, to be effective, this treatment implies periodical replacements of the aligners (about every 3/4 weeks.)
Dedicated to the youngest patients, with primary teeth or permanent teeth still in development. It is a dental, bone and functional evaluation of the child’s face, to spot (intercept) any anomalies, wrong habits, parafunctions and other defects, in order to neutralise their damaging effects on the dental arches, and favourite a well-proportioned development.
